Supervisor Chris Daly and Supervisor McGoldrick both have legislation pending that will substantially increase the number of Below Market Rate affordable units under the Inclusionary Zoning Ordinance. These are both rental units as well as for sale units. Some are as low as $85,000, which is in the reach of disabled households. AHA/SF is offering an amendment so that senior, disabled, catastrophically-ill and evicted tenants are given preference in the lottery for these units. Please contact your Supervisor today and express your support for both pieces of legislation and the AIDS Housing Alliance/SF proposal.
Supervisor Bevan Dufty has legislation being heard by the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, November 8th that will provide a windfall benefit of several hundred thousand dollars to speculators who have evicted people with AIDS. Call the Board of Supervisors and/or show up at the hearing on Tuesday to express your dismay at this ill-conceived plan. We cannot reward people who evict our most vulnerable citizens.
